The Peavey 44XT is a high-performance, professional-grade high-frequency compression driver designed for heavy-duty sound reinforcement applications. Engineering focusing on high power handling and clarity allows this driver to operate efficiently in demanding touring PAs, large club sound systems, and stadium installations.At its core, the 44XT features a massive 4-inch (101.6 mm) edge-wound aluminum ribbon voice coil coupled to a commercially pure titanium dome diaphragm. This combination provides excellent transient response and structural integrity under prolonged stress. The unit incorporates a 2-inch (50.8 mm) throat exit, allowing smooth coupling to large-format high-frequency horns and waveguides.To combat heat buildup during high-output operation, the driver utilizes advanced ferrofluid cooling. This liquid cooling medium draws heat away from the voice coil, dramatically reducing power compression and preventing thermal failure. Additionally, the driver integrates Peavey’s patented Radialinear Planar Phase Correction System. This specialized phase plug structure synchronizes the sound wave arrival times across the diaphragm surface, significantly reducing destructive phase cancellation and ensuring linear, detailed high-frequency reproduction from 500 Hz all the way up to 20,000 Hz.With an 8-ohm nominal impedance, it is highly compatible with standard professional crossovers and power amplifiers, delivering reliable, crisp high-end performance for elite audio engineering setups.
